Pokémon Gold made its US debut on October 15th, 2000. Judging by the battery, this cartridge was made in May 1998. It was used to localize the game from Japanese to German, and contains the testing menu for what seems to be a mystery gift feature. This is one of a kind cartridge, which came from Nintendo headquarters dissolution in Europe, and was purchased at a liquidation auction. The consignee has provenance pointing to a famous Nintendo Age forum user Steem69 (PAL ROCKS) who is famous for selling a large batch of rare cartridges back in 2015.
